I come from the Talek area in the Maasai Mara. I first began my education at Talek Primary School, walking six km to school each day, and later graduated from Ololulunga Secondary School. I have attended training programs in computers and ornithology as well as the Prescott College Field Guide Training Program in 2016. In 2004, I started my career as an assistant for the International Livestock Research Institute and continued working with a Michigan State University student who was writing a dissertation, researching Maasai grazing systems. I then went on to work for Olare Orok Conservancy, Ilkeliani, and Tanzanian Kenyan Safaris. In 2012 I started working as a Freelance Guide and bought a vehicle in 2014. My latest project is building my own camp located near the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. As one of the founders of the MGA, I wanted to help create a platform to provide opportunity for our local community. The few of us who owned vehicles were paid very little, yet we know the Maasai Mara so well because it is our home and we enter the reserve everyday. We are committed to protecting the ecosystems in the Mara and wildlife as well as opportunity for the people of the Mara.
